“A taste of Life” and No Inhibitions with Mahesh Bhatt

Some paradoxical statements he brings forward upfront... no inhibitions:

  •          College dropout but has taken many lectures in colleges
  •          Thinks that God is a bomb, cause more killings happen in his name... being con man is better
  •          He feels more secure with 3 daughters, the rest of world with sons
  •          Declined a lifetime achievement award whereas the stars seek that for validation
  •          There is safety in herd, when you stand out you are vulnerable
  •          We are used to fairy tales but life is like a mirage where we are running for an oasis
  •          Connectivity has outgrown with launch of mobile but we all have become isolated.
  •          A man who keeps ‘Roza’ for his mother but doesn’t believe in God
  •       ‘Parveen Babi’ a woman who became schizophrenic one of his greatest strength

Some reality bites and tete-a-tete with Mahesh Bhatt, a man who speaks his heart out shared some of his experiences with ladies of FICCI, Ahmedabad Chapter.

Some excerpts...

Responsibilities came on his shoulder at a very early age, in his late teens the iron man started working. Brought up in a middle class family struggled with many failures he outshined successfully... is what defines Mahesh Bhatt. He says that life for each is like a dog who gets stuck up in a traffic and manages to cross the road, steering his own way through and takes a sigh of relief when reaches the other side. If you ask him as to how did he do that?.. he will just bark at you!!! Similarly each of us have our own set of challenges but we live wearing masks.

Language at the time of Jesus had 3000 words, today the number is multifold... does that indicate we are communicating better with improved vocabulary? We all are at the peaks of connectivity where everyone is living in a virtual world. Our real world of human compassion, emotions and touch and real human physical connectivity is dying a slow death with smart phones.

Always dressed simply wearing chappals... his personality, aura and own experiences full of struggles and victories speak volumes. A man who has no inhibitions, was into a live in relation with Bollywood diva when such relations were not much known of.. He gives credit for his achievements to his near and dear ones; his brother for the economic freedom, his three daughters for strength and mother for the life force energy. And his family for whom he had to accomplish his dreams as a bread winner.

He mentions about his escape after a failure, an escape for a long time to religion where he was made to learn mantras, do yoga for long hours and was drilled with gyaan for long, but his perspective on such efforts is like bringing a storm on to your soul which may cause ripples on the surface but deep down your soul which is like the ocean is still the same.. flowing, searching and seeking. Religion and words like God to him are like a Bomb under which more humans are killed. For his own liberation he gives entire credit to U G Krishnamurthy, his Guru who has guided Mahesh Bhatt to what he is today.

Mahesh Bhatt has an entirely different take on fairy tales, we humans are brought up reading about them but every human being has his or her own set of struggles. Life is not a cakewalk.. the journey is like travelling in the desert in search of an oasis... a mirage!!

When asked about anything he would like to change in Bollywood, he mentions that it is the best in its form. India is a country where we follow the ethos of freedom of expression; this itself is strength of Bollywood or else films like Bahubali generating 1500 crore, would not have happened. We seek for advises but hardly follow them, one should strive for improvement every day, chase your dreams but respect your own uniqueness.

At 68, he still has the thirst to drink the ocean.. after accomplishing so many dreams his dream project is to convert his book ‘A taste of life’ into a film...

And he has tasted life without inhibitions and expressed too in similar fashion.

No inhibitions... that’s what defines Mahesh Bhatt.

Dubai - The Greener Pastures

Its not just Oil and Gold, a New world economy, booming and buzzing, attracting all global markets to buy home, setup business and live in a place which is now the new Centre of attraction, to setup Global Headquarters. The Millenial tower - Burj Al Arab  Indians have forgotten Canada and US (seems so..) especially after the setting up new Trump norms... so where do all heads turn and why? 1. Distance : Travel time from Delhi to Dubai is 3.5 hours and if we talk about Gujarat, Punjab, Kerala and Maharashtra they are geographically more towards the west, therefore the travel time to The Emirates is even lesser than any other Indian town on the extreme corner. Therefore, Dubai travel is cost effective and easily accessible. 2. Visa : Relaxed norms with consultants from both countries growing in numbers to assist Indians settle in Dubai, both for entrepreneurs and job seekers. 3. Population : Potential of any economy to thrive lies in its people, Population thus holds biggest Poten...

Upcycle Concrete

Upcycle is an interesting "GREEN" practice nowadays followed by many!! For goods and commodities its good, but in the era of shifting sands, preferences, fast evolutionary changes, the need and demand for more excitement the malls, unlike old markets, have a very short life span. A decade is quite long, then they slowly organically fade out. Ahmedabad, unlike the metros is quick silver. The life span of malls is shorter than those in metros.. few which have swept off infront of our eyes in two decades are; Gulmohar, Fun Republic, Gallops etc. Gallops though with best brands, infrastructure couldn't survive the cost concious market. Two days ago I happened to step into Iscon mega Mall, Mega like the word suggests, its gigantic. Reliance hyper market was inaugurated on 15th August 2006 by Sh Mukesh Ambani, it was his big bang entry into retail segment. In this mega structure, today hardly 10% area is functional, rest is all unused.  If Westside and Reliance are functional...
