Sarcasm and Satire on Social scenario.. Duality defined

4s2d.. As the heading goes is the overall extract taken from this Art Show. Ashok Adepal a famous Cartoonist of Gujarat currently working with Bhaskar group showcased 100 cartoon images made digitally but given a perfect look l.. that of paintings. He has been working on the selfie theme since past one year... He has chosen himself to be the caricature, capturing the growing selfie craze which is picking up like wildfire, lot of retrospection and introspection.. Self reflective image of today's scenario on various fronts of society and systems.

On national level RK Lakshman is top of the mind recall... Following this great league, names like Ashok are making a strong visible footprint in their journey.

Just like the front page cartoons on newspaper on one small corner talk aloud about current political scenario ot latest news in the news room and speak a lot. On similar note Ashok has very well captured a 360 degree purview of the current state which is full of duality and hypocrisy..

A picture speaks a thousand words... Pasted as originally taken with bits and pieces of other overlapping pictures. Reality vs editing

We just scream of global warming but are cutting trees... Earth is sinking

Life running in time machine

Last but not least.. Frame to look into yourself.  Mirror mirror on the wall".. that's what we mostly miss out while analyzing others. Self view and self talk at times id is the best!!
Selfie in a mirror..
The artist.. Cartoonist, Ashok.

The exhibition was showcased from 2nd to 4th June, 2017 at Hutheesing Visual Art gallery, Ahmedabad.

Upcycle Concrete

Upcycle is an interesting "GREEN" practice nowadays followed by many!! For goods and commodities its good, but in the era of shifting sands, preferences, fast evolutionary changes, the need and demand for more excitement the malls, unlike old markets, have a very short life span. A decade is quite long, then they slowly organically fade out. Ahmedabad, unlike the metros is quick silver. The life span of malls is shorter than those in metros.. few which have swept off infront of our eyes in two decades are; Gulmohar, Fun Republic, Gallops etc. Gallops though with best brands, infrastructure couldn't survive the cost concious market. Two days ago I happened to step into Iscon mega Mall, Mega like the word suggests, its gigantic. Reliance hyper market was inaugurated on 15th August 2006 by Sh Mukesh Ambani, it was his big bang entry into retail segment. In this mega structure, today hardly 10% area is functional, rest is all unused.  If Westside and Reliance are functional...

Parallel Worlds - Perspectives from Gwalior

India is a land of Gold mine for Archeologists and architects.. any region we travel, there are ballads and narratives found in every corner of the country. After various emperors who travelled and did their territory demarcation.. today the politically divided States as per the Sovereign Social Republic clearly reflect the culture and Unity in Diversity in various aspects, be it culture, space, region, food or architecture. Madhya Pradesh, today being the centre of the country is a classic example where you can find historical structures, monuments and living spaces from across eras. Mughal, Marathas, Rajputs, Sikhs, Britishers etc.  Apart from this, there is a lot of correlation found in the architecture of structures found in other states which have been built in other eras. Twin temples with elephant carvings as base Sas Bahu Temple Gwalior (vishnu temple) Sun Temple Modhera in Gujarat and Sas Bahu (as ...
