Sizzling Summer Saturday

AHMEDABAD

After Good Friday arrives another special weekend.. Saturday. On a sizzling summer afternoon where I couldn't opt for a stroll but yet went out to explore.... What?.. Let's read and see for ourselves.

I landed at Huber and Holly on Pakwaan cross roads, a newly opened food joint where I discovered bomb shells and blockbusters... You must be wondering what are these? Names of ice cream deserts. I decided to try a Blockbuster, something similar to a choco bar but with a thick chocolate coat and one can choose upon various toppings or flavors to get an extra zing. I chose pistachios and rose petals, a very unique combo.

Exploration... What I mentioned earlier. I landed on my next stop at Galaxy Bazaar, Sunrise Park. Hopping in and out of various shops, I reached Hoglato. This is a unique confectionery shop where you get exquisite chocolates ranging from liquor filled to various other concoctions. Apart from this they have their expertise in cheese cakes. What I personally liked best about this place is that they have a loyal league of clients for chocolates and they serve select variety of cakes,  made personally with lot of love ofcourse. Focus is on quality and not quantity or too much of variety. So after the bombshell and blockbuster was time for love...

Next stop was indulgence... Where I just clicked the Easter eggs and headed back home.

Chickens taking a back seat.. Easter eggs take the lead.

Dubai - The Greener Pastures

Its not just Oil and Gold, a New world economy, booming and buzzing, attracting all global markets to buy home, setup business and live in a place which is now the new Centre of attraction, to setup Global Headquarters. The Millenial tower - Burj Al Arab  Indians have forgotten Canada and US (seems so..) especially after the setting up new Trump norms... so where do all heads turn and why? 1. Distance : Travel time from Delhi to Dubai is 3.5 hours and if we talk about Gujarat, Punjab, Kerala and Maharashtra they are geographically more towards the west, therefore the travel time to The Emirates is even lesser than any other Indian town on the extreme corner. Therefore, Dubai travel is cost effective and easily accessible. 2. Visa : Relaxed norms with consultants from both countries growing in numbers to assist Indians settle in Dubai, both for entrepreneurs and job seekers. 3. Population : Potential of any economy to thrive lies in its people, Population thus holds biggest Poten...

Upcycle Concrete

Upcycle is an interesting "GREEN" practice nowadays followed by many!! For goods and commodities its good, but in the era of shifting sands, preferences, fast evolutionary changes, the need and demand for more excitement the malls, unlike old markets, have a very short life span. A decade is quite long, then they slowly organically fade out. Ahmedabad, unlike the metros is quick silver. The life span of malls is shorter than those in metros.. few which have swept off infront of our eyes in two decades are; Gulmohar, Fun Republic, Gallops etc. Gallops though with best brands, infrastructure couldn't survive the cost concious market. Two days ago I happened to step into Iscon mega Mall, Mega like the word suggests, its gigantic. Reliance hyper market was inaugurated on 15th August 2006 by Sh Mukesh Ambani, it was his big bang entry into retail segment. In this mega structure, today hardly 10% area is functional, rest is all unused.  If Westside and Reliance are functional...

Parallel Worlds - Perspectives from Gwalior

India is a land of Gold mine for Archeologists and architects.. any region we travel, there are ballads and narratives found in every corner of the country. After various emperors who travelled and did their territory demarcation.. today the politically divided States as per the Sovereign Social Republic clearly reflect the culture and Unity in Diversity in various aspects, be it culture, space, region, food or architecture. Madhya Pradesh, today being the centre of the country is a classic example where you can find historical structures, monuments and living spaces from across eras. Mughal, Marathas, Rajputs, Sikhs, Britishers etc.  Apart from this, there is a lot of correlation found in the architecture of structures found in other states which have been built in other eras. Twin temples with elephant carvings as base Sas Bahu Temple Gwalior (vishnu temple) Sun Temple Modhera in Gujarat and Sas Bahu (as ...
