The New Health Mantra - Palm Oil

With evolving food trends, today’s era is of health conscious individuals, who are foodies, travelling and exploring yet health conscious. To impart the same mantra and spread awareness about lesser known facts and International trends, Malaysian Palm Oil Corporation organised a fun filled event at Ahmadabad.

Trending or new trends... was the theme, so the participants invited for the forum were the new age bloggers, another emerging trend in the 5th estate, were dressed in “Retro”  - theme of party.

Dum Maaro Dum...

Malaysian Palm Oil Council designed the meet in a very innovative fashion. Unlike the boring only business briefing sessions, entire gang of bloggers were made to move across in various restaurants, where we not only tasted some recipes made out of palm oil but also had to use our grey matter.

The culinary journey started at Kbobs where, Dr. Bhavna Shah, Country Head - Malaysian Palm Oil Council; India & Srilanka shared inputs about the benefits of Palm oil which, since long is used in food and packaged food industry with little or no awareness amidst consumers regarding its health benefits.

From there on, began the adventure series of 50 plus bloggers. We were segregated in groups and given clue cards to guess the name of a nearby restaurant....

  • ‘Barbeque Nation’ was our next destination, after filling in a questioner arrived another guess series and we headed on to ‘Sugar and Spice’.  After having interesting concoction of Pan shots, a milky mocktail with beetlenut leaf flavour, ringed with dry coconut powder, a Milky Mary (thats a name given by me..) later we were blind folded and served interesting wraps and Sushi’s (which we discovered later) after guessing the ingredients. Then arrived another clue card and we moved to “Happy Singh”, a nearby restaurant.
  • After the tasting was the testing; that of our creativity... A salad making competition within the groups was out next adventure. Juicy fruits and veggies were served which triggered our creative juices also to flow.
  • Our group, i.e. Group #1 made “Fruity Sunshine salad”, with a mix of pineapple, orange and guavas mixed with sweet chilli sauce served with red cabbage drizzled with mustard sauce, topped with a Pineapple wheel and orange peel. (a creative mix of sweet and strong punchy flavours of mustard)

Fruity Sunshine Salad

  • The Nerve Chilling and Thrilling session: Last but not the least , we reached back to Kbobs, where each of the groups again had to finish a bowl full of Ferrero Rocher Nutella icecream made of palm oil ... Ahhh!!! All had to indulge on the BIG B..owl without counting the calories.
  • Another BIG B arrived, a huge basket full of goodies presented to group #4 as an overall star performer group.
The series concluded with a lavish spread of supper.

Conclusion: Apart from the innovative and fun series, we all got a great insight on a new age oil which carries with it loads of health benefits. Palm oil has been extensively consumed for institutional use i.e biscuits, bakery products etc. But the irony is that somehow the ingredient has not been labelled precisely or particularly on the packaging.

"Wife or a Whore?" Or Dust under her feet!

Lets change the narrative.. the perspective and positioning !! Well, this is one statement which after a certain age applies to women.. pls note the word "AGE"!! This was mentioned in a book reading session by Sharbari Zohra Ahmed, in her Debut Novel,   "Dust under her feet!" The  Quantico  scriptwriter moves from an International thriller, expressing a high voltage drama series for Hollywood and now back into the 1940s, where her story revolves around Yasmine Khan, the protagonist. Sharbari expresses that it was probably Yasmine Khan, the focal point chose her, cause while writing the fiction,  she could clearly go back into times and see the visuals of the yesteryears when World War II had set in.. There is a lot which Sharbari has contributed into this novel, above her body mind and soul.. fifteen years have gone into crafting the epic! What beyond? The Author has actually gone to the libraries of Kolkata, dug out their archival section, newspapers, magazines, hu...

A New Dawn in the Desert By: Kulveen Narula “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn't something  you await, but rather create.” — H. H.
