We are what we eat!! (not just think...)

Ahmedabad, 16th December 2018: Food has been known not only to impart nutrition, but also develops our mind, body and certain spiritual qualities. The essence of food which has been traditionally developed over years is somewhere getting lost between fad diets, western influence, new age ingredients, cafe culture etc.

Indian tradition and culture has developed over food. Food is one ingredient which is also present in religion, ayurveda, medicine, and social connect too... Food is part of our entire eco-system, it is nature, hence we connect with it the most.

Sattvik is one such initiative to create awareness about the lost traditional cooking methods, regional and seasonal food. Apart from this Sattvik brought in by Srishti Innovations is also a platform where home- makers, villagers and commercial outlets showcase their food-related products, services and serve delicacies too.

Sattvik 2018 will be held at AES grounds, Bodakdev from 22nd December 2018 to 25th December 2018, from 11am till 10 pm.

Some attractions will be an Award winning ‘Shahi Dry Fruit Pak’ by Neeti Bansali andand Leafy almond soup”, which is full of nutrition.

Jyoti and Manisha Jain will put up Ragi dosa varieties. Jyoti Rampariya, who is participating the first time, hails from Dhudkot near Jamnagar brings in entire ensemble...

If you want to try fusion food, there will be “Ratalu Beet tikki”, “Multigrain  Tofu Spinach Roll”, apart from this forget the mocktails made from artificial and synthetic flavours. Hina Shah will be presenting fresh fruit concoctions: “Apple Mint”, “watermelon mint” and “Kiwi Grapes”.

Forget Paan shots, to freshen up and add zest to yourself, Kalgi Sheth will be putting up a stall of ‘liquid mukhwas’

If you think Drum sticks are difficult to handle and too noisy, then use its leaves to prepare a pancake or ‘Chilla’.

Nisha Mundada of Rajasthan runs a brand “Gau mart”, they deal only in cow milk which has A2 protien. They will be serving winter specials made out of this milk: ‘Ukala doodh’, Basundhi & ‘kadiyal doodh’. Milk is boiled under slow flame in an open iron vessel for hours.. each has various ingredients mixed, spices, nuts or kesar.

Abhi Sukadiya from Khambat has brought in, ‘Rajagda Sukhdi, halwasan, Makai vada etc.’

A real Orange Ice cream presented in the orange itself is another star attraction where Heema Updhyaya hasn’t used any artificial flavours or colours.

Don’t miss ‘Multigrain sukhdi’, a crunchy nutty sweet delight prepared by Mansi Tamaliya.

Sattvik is about overall healthy living, hence apart from just regional food, there will be workshops on kitchen gardening, in order to promote growing food ourselves. Besides, a workshop on composting will create awareness on transforming kitchen waste to organic manure which can be used for your kitchen garden. Greenshala.com carries all information for building a league towards chemical free food and soil.

Upcycle Concrete

Upcycle is an interesting "GREEN" practice nowadays followed by many!! For goods and commodities its good, but in the era of shifting sands, preferences, fast evolutionary changes, the need and demand for more excitement the malls, unlike old markets, have a very short life span. A decade is quite long, then they slowly organically fade out. Ahmedabad, unlike the metros is quick silver. The life span of malls is shorter than those in metros.. few which have swept off infront of our eyes in two decades are; Gulmohar, Fun Republic, Gallops etc. Gallops though with best brands, infrastructure couldn't survive the cost concious market. Two days ago I happened to step into Iscon mega Mall, Mega like the word suggests, its gigantic. Reliance hyper market was inaugurated on 15th August 2006 by Sh Mukesh Ambani, it was his big bang entry into retail segment. In this mega structure, today hardly 10% area is functional, rest is all unused.  If Westside and Reliance are functional...

Parallel Worlds - Perspectives from Gwalior

India is a land of Gold mine for Archeologists and architects.. any region we travel, there are ballads and narratives found in every corner of the country. After various emperors who travelled and did their territory demarcation.. today the politically divided States as per the Sovereign Social Republic clearly reflect the culture and Unity in Diversity in various aspects, be it culture, space, region, food or architecture. Madhya Pradesh, today being the centre of the country is a classic example where you can find historical structures, monuments and living spaces from across eras. Mughal, Marathas, Rajputs, Sikhs, Britishers etc.  Apart from this, there is a lot of correlation found in the architecture of structures found in other states which have been built in other eras. Twin temples with elephant carvings as base Sas Bahu Temple Gwalior (vishnu temple) Sun Temple Modhera in Gujarat and Sas Bahu (as ...
