DONt feel Deserted..!!

With Ice-Cream you will never feel deserted in Ahmedabad!!

Ahmedabad in my personal ranking has to be THE ICE-CREAM Capitol of India, with leading dairy brands, ice-cream not only happens to be a by product of it, but it’s the lullaby of majority of the population. Credit scores for this culture also are due to the state falling in so called “dry” category!! The males aren’t busy consuming liquor at home or in pubs therefore one can spot groups of families and friends hanging out together sitting outside parlours or pavement on stools late at night.. chilling with their ‘gup-shup’. The late evening breeze in this tropical zone is another inviting factor for this trend to develop!!

As a spectator and blogger, I have witnessed three generations or three zones of this chilling fluid!!

To hit Bull's eye you need the MOO factor of cow!!
The home made brands contribute to the first generation which had always been local preference, made locally, fresh with minimum processing and preservatives with local connect too being the key contributing factor. Brands like Classic Derani Jhethani, Patel, Rajasthan Ice- cream, Janta, Asharfilal, Farki, Dairy den are some of the names which still are the top of the mind recall and brand loyalty attached to it.

Second, arrived in a bigger version, with stronger & wider presence in the region backed by massive marketing budgets; which in just a few years span of time lead them towards creating a national footprint. Havmor, Vadilal, Amul are few names which have outgrown selling happiness nationally.

The third generation now is a mix of International brands and evolved Indian versions for the emerging consumer requirements and developing pallets. Gelatos, sorbets, cuisine based ice-creams, tawa ice-creams are some of the versions which are trending.

Indian labels which have recreated the desert are Pabrais fresh & Naturelle, Naturals, Bombay Kulfi, Melt in, Amazo, Screamery, IceCreamWorks, Icekraft, etc. They have recreated and redefined ice-cream completely offering gourmet ice-creams.  A four in one kulfi stick or a two in one lychee strawberry (fruit version) at Bombay Kulfi costs just Rs. 45. Flavours ranging from Green Tea and Wasabi are available at Pabrais. Cravingz at the same time offers a yogurt based version of the desert.

Huber & Holly, Haagen Dazs, Baskin Robins etc are some of the International names who  own a substantial pie in their share, well this is just tip of the iceberg!!

So guys check that Hanging out definition in a nationwide worth of 4000 cr industry!!

Here, at night, in Ahmedabad means indulgence and chilling!
