Ahmedabad goes drizzle this rainy season.. with Urge to splurge

The downpour of restaurants for the crazy bees has added options for the food trend which is growing in the skyline of the city, covered with clouds but dotted with eateries. The urge to splurge on food suddenly grows when after the peak summers when the mercury is on rise your hunger levels, and then arrives the soothing showers inversing the fore-mentioned phenomenon.  Apart from just samosas or pakoras , t he hungry soul then yearns for fried, spicy stuff and open spaces which are dropping. I am always in for open spaces which along with good food have the best natural resource available i.e FRESH AIR!! Hence to venture, apart from the regular roadside eateries, I thought of listing down some irresistible options. Truffle - The Cafe Truffle – The Cafe : Located off S. G Highway, opp. YMCA club, a comparatively peaceful and bigger location. Apart from the container converted to a cafe, they have the best blend of live music, private spaces dug out for larger groups for f

DONt feel Deserted..!!

With Ice-Cream you will never feel deserted in Ahmedabad!! Ahmedabad in my personal ranking has to be THE ICE-CREAM Capitol of India, with leading dairy brands, ice-cream not only happens to be a by product of it, but it’s the lullaby of majority of the population. Credit scores for this culture also are due to the state falling in so called “ dry” category!! The males aren’t busy consuming liquor at home or in pubs therefore one can spot groups of families and friends hanging out together sitting outside parlours or pavement on stools late at night.. chilling with their ‘gup-shup’. The late evening breeze in this tropical zone is another inviting factor for this trend to develop!! As a spectator and blogger, I have witnessed three generations or three zones of this chilling fluid!! To hit Bull's eye you need the MOO factor of cow!! The home made brands contribute to the first generation which had always been local preference, made locally, fresh with minimum proc

A Landmark of 20 years...

Touching the new millennium 2000, the skyline of Ahmedabad had been known for very few star category hotels, and Sabarmati peripheral region used to be one key zone to build these Landmark locations.. and attract operators. Then came in Hotel Fortune Landmark in the year 1998 at Usmanpura, with a view of Sabarmati from their rooftop and close vicinity to the airport; soon followed by other revolutionary change, with Vibrant Gujarat seasons, Medical tourism and upsurge in tourism industry there came in a rising room demand which led to landing in  various other players and investors pouring in the market.  Hospitality being a highly demanding industry,  volatile markets and aggressive competition; this is one Landmark which has been standing tall, carrying the same brand tag since two decades. Chef Suresh Khanna amidst his vivid  creations On 23rd May 2018, Hotel Fortune Landmark celebrated their twenty years of operations. A journey worth a mention.. The city has witnesse

Landed at Outlandish Dhadoom!!

Well as the interiors suggest, this place is completely meant for teenagers and the youngistann who can get themselves sink into calories without counting and also dig well into cheese .... Weird, be it the combinations or the tastes, there are fried Oreos and ' paratha ' pizzas. For the food tasting session, I started my culinary journey with a Brownie Shake, crumbled brownie churned with milk and served in a long beaker kinda glasses.. I had fun clicking some pictures with the freakish graphics and toons. The shake too is good to go with, quite filling and highly recommended. The next came in queue was Dal Makhani with Paratha, part of their new menu delights. This Dal Makhani has a very typical punju touch to it, not too heavy and tastes exactly like a home made version. Good to go, as it is a mini platter, served with 'paratha'. Personally, I would give it four star out of five to it..  Another extension of parathas are the paratha

Macadamia to Mascarpone & Wasabi to Dates.. all in frozen dessert delights...

Creation of food is an amalgamation of art, combinations of taste, food materials infused in together.. but needs lot of knowledge, experimentation and research too, as various food categories cannot be combined together or some even if combined don’t taste great or react well, but this challenge has been taken up well by Pabria’s, a transformed version of Tullika ice-creams which has been put back on feet with a more robust plan, strategy and innovative approach. Pabrai’s – Fresh and Naturelle is again a Kolkata based 30 year old family brand which has franchisee presence in Ahmedabad, at Vastrapur Lake. 90% of the ice-creams at Pabrai’s – Fresh and Naturelle retain absolutely original flavours of fruits, nuts, flowers, spices or any other essential extracts. They use the best of ingredients which impart original taste to the favourite dessert of Amdavadi’s; be it a basic vanilla ice cream or a lemon grass both have natural pods and leaves present. The USP of Pabrai’s is

World on my Platter...

..... Millhouse is the place to be... Classic, elegant, delicate, succulent, juicy, creamy and moreover Fresh!!! are the few terms that define this newly opened place and the food. Millhouse offers completely new gastronomical delights on the food explorer's platter; an experience which will am sure as a blogger will continue on... and on your steering too, I believe, can turn it onto one of favorite food junctions. A newly opened venture by three people; Jaydeep Mukherjee, Ajit Dhumal and Anand who have a rich background in hospitality have taken this initiative. While interacting with Jaydeep, a precise message which I captured, and to put as a "quote"  "Glocal delicacies, simple food, with less experimentation, retaining the original flavors and minimizing wastage". * PS Three types of seating arrangement, that of bar, cafe and a comfortable dining space...  three menus , one for beverage, food and sweets offering bakery products and hand crafte

Legacy called Madhorao...

A recently opened restaurant in Ahmedabad is one of the most recommended places where I felt few ingredients which were quite unique.... Apart from warmth which the place exudes in ample, there is lot of space, antique woven chairs, vintage style furniture which goes in line with the theme of traditional food. Tradition and generation goes hand, it is the generation today responsible to carry forth our tradition.. Madhorao is the right model of the statement.  Wall of Fame - Chaitanya Dalvi  Chaitanya Dalvi, the man behind this venture mentioned, "The name, dedicated to my father and recipes are inspired by my mother, is what Madhorao all about. Being Goan by origin, I always wanted to present something unique on the culinary map of Ahmedabad. Hence, decided to serve traditional Maharashtran cuisine that too in bronze tableware adds to the authenticity of the culinary experience. Colonial furniture with spaced out tables are intended to give more comfort and privacy to t
