Ahmedabad goes drizzle this rainy season.. with Urge to splurge

The downpour of restaurants for the crazy bees has added options for the food trend which is growing in the skyline of the city, covered with clouds but dotted with eateries. The urge to splurge on food suddenly grows when after the peak summers when the mercury is on rise your hunger levels, and then arrives the soothing showers inversing the fore-mentioned phenomenon.  Apart from just samosas or pakoras , t he hungry soul then yearns for fried, spicy stuff and open spaces which are dropping. I am always in for open spaces which along with good food have the best natural resource available i.e FRESH AIR!! Hence to venture, apart from the regular roadside eateries, I thought of listing down some irresistible options. Truffle - The Cafe Truffle – The Cafe : Located off S. G Highway, opp. YMCA club, a comparatively peaceful and bigger location. Apart from the container converted to a cafe, they have the best blend of live music, private spaces dug out for larger groups f...

A Landmark of 20 years...

Touching the new millennium 2000, the skyline of Ahmedabad had been known for very few star category hotels, and Sabarmati peripheral region used to be one key zone to build these Landmark locations.. and attract operators. Then came in Hotel Fortune Landmark in the year 1998 at Usmanpura, with a view of Sabarmati from their rooftop and close vicinity to the airport; soon followed by other revolutionary change, with Vibrant Gujarat seasons, Medical tourism and upsurge in tourism industry there came in a rising room demand which led to landing in  various other players and investors pouring in the market.  Hospitality being a highly demanding industry,  volatile markets and aggressive competition; this is one Landmark which has been standing tall, carrying the same brand tag since two decades. Chef Suresh Khanna amidst his vivid  creations On 23rd May 2018, Hotel Fortune Landmark celebrated their twenty years of operations. A journey worth a mention...

Cleaner you....with this Immunity booster dose

Spa’s and therapies are looked upon as a great idea for relaxation and rejuvenation. The culture is picking up well with booming spa industry.. what are the reasons, one gets to know only when you visit one. So Dravya , at Hotel Crowne Plaza, is one place, I headed on to experience and explore more... Personally I always recommend a renowned spa, as they not only focus on best of services with trained staff, but hygiene, infrastructure and various other aspects equally play an important role to rejuvenate you. Lavish space, with a private sit out area where I was first offered an Apple infused Cranberry juice... highly soothing and relaxing when you land into the place when the summer heat at its peak!! I opted for a BALI massage which focuses on Lymphatic drainage, a very important aspect, extremely essential for overall well being, as lymph nodes, a part of our circulatory system, store the white blood cells which are responsible for our immunity and play a very ...

Landed at Outlandish Dhadoom!!

Well as the interiors suggest, this place is completely meant for teenagers and the youngistann who can get themselves sink into calories without counting and also dig well into cheese .... Weird, be it the combinations or the tastes, there are fried Oreos and ' paratha ' pizzas. For the food tasting session, I started my culinary journey with a Brownie Shake, crumbled brownie churned with milk and served in a long beaker kinda glasses.. I had fun clicking some pictures with the freakish graphics and toons. The shake too is good to go with, quite filling and highly recommended. The next came in queue was Dal Makhani with Paratha, part of their new menu delights. This Dal Makhani has a very typical punju touch to it, not too heavy and tastes exactly like a home made version. Good to go, as it is a mini platter, served with 'paratha'. Personally, I would give it four star out of five to it..  Another extension of parathas are the paratha ...

Food Saga is Sunday Gaga...

Sunday is a day when we are at leisure and all dream of having a scrumptious food... In search of that, on a hunting spree; which the new age human does for restaurants... cause the real hunting is a punishable offence.... Thank God!! Salman got saved by prayers probably, of his fan following and helping people emerge. Coming back to food, Sunday Brunch at Timpani - Radisson Blu, had been since long in my wish list, Hence I prepared myself for indulgence... (you need that for brunches, that too on a Sunday!!) Going Gaga on food was my mood and Timpani is a place where the buffet spread is quite lavish & artistique; to fit onto all kinds of pallets moods and needs.  Quite a wide assortment for both vegetarian and non- vegetarian lovers, they have very smartly segregated entire non-veg counter, from salads to main course, by pushing it right behind, so that the same is not even visible to veg inclined foodies in Gujarat, at the same time serve the b...

Amdavadi's!! now there is another route now to flee after a hot summer day. Another flea market tagged as Pink Butterfly will be active from today... 14 th and 15 th April 2018, two days, 4 pm onwards...to eat shop, relax, dance at  Old burnout café, Juggernaut  Cross Roads, Sindhubhavan road. Pink Butterfly - The quirkiest and the most niche Flea Market is the brain child of Janki Vakil Shah and Ratna Jani.. who announced this initiative with few bloggers, media fraternity and friends. The main ingredients of this market will be, handpicked boutique owners of Ahmedabad to showcase their apparel collection, activity zone for kids, home made food stalls where females are participating as start ups... another major attraction will be live music and singing artist Chakshu to mesmerize the audiences.. So this place is great to flutter around on a summer weekend...

The Quest which became a Jackpott...

Anang Mistry!! the point we get onto, simply straight like the nail... a young creative mind, who sailing through various domains, from events, to Public Relations crafted out his own brain child. He started a voucher booklet termed as Jackpott  - The King of all deals; which in no time became one of the best selling deals book in India.. till now we must have heard of best selling books those meant for reading. But this booklet , commencing from Gujarat, a place known for deals and discounts,  "ketlu discount apis..."  as a standard sentence for any sales deals... so Mr. Mistry captured this seeking of masses as a business idea itself, and in 2014 Jackpott - The King of all Deals, came into existence. Today  Jackpott  has outgrown to an such an extent, that it is now Asia's fastest growing startup brand. They have become lead sponsors in most of the city events. Having walked quite a bit on success road at in quite a young age, Anang Mistry s...

From Sindh Ghati to The Grand Bhagwati...

Global and regional cuisines are nowadays available across the length and breadth of town. As the trend in the industry goes... focus has always been more on Global, like Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Lebanese etc. the irony remained that apart from simple Punjabi and South Indian we are not much aware of regional Indian pallet. The FEA (Food Entrepreneurs Association Ahmedabad) community with their assortment of people from various regions and diverse areas in food industry have been taking initiatives to focus on  cuisines especially when we get together... The initiative is in order to have more interesting and exciting meets and of-course go back to roots and revive our culture. The platform itself becomes a knowledge hub where we not only get to taste, but discuss various aspects, experiences to add onto our knowledge... to put it in a crisp one liner; "It's Sharing and Caring redefined at FEA!! " The credits for these initiatives go to Mr. Anil Mu...
